Never forget, that on what started as an ordinary Northern Hemisphere late-summer Tuesday in September, the world abruptly changed.
Never forget the loss of innocent lives.
Never forget the heroism of those who sacrificed their own lives to save many more lives.
Never forget that we, as a nation, came together in support of one another, and rose above the efforts of those who wish to keep us divided so they can profit from our divisions.
Never forget that no one was saying “if that’s what you think, then unfriend me now, we have literally nothing in common.” (Of course, there was no social media in the sense we now know it, but the point remains.)
Never forget that we hit Pause on disowning each other permanently over inane and irrelevant trivialities that have little or no bearing on our actual lives.
Never forget that we changed our focus to the things that unite us, and didn’t allow our differences to divide us.
Never forget that we LISTENED to each other and CARED for each other.
Never forget that, unfortunately, we’ve come a long way… backward… from that moment.
But, never forget that we accomplished it recently.
In living memory.
