Listen to what the other person is saying.
Even if what you perceive as their total disconnection from reality or an ability to cognitively reason makes you want to just scream and shake sense into them, listen to them.
Wait until they’re completely finished.
Then, when it’s your turn, say
“I can definitely see what you mean there. Just one question, if I may:”
and then state your counterpoint AS A QUESTION that you’re asking, from a place of genuine curiosity, in a tone that conveys you’re expecting to gain knowledge through their reply.
Then listen with an open mind to what they say.
Rinse and repeat.
Folks are a lot more likely to see your point, when you see theirs.
